When Tim and I were first married, I tried to make meatballs for him. I didn’t realize that I needed to season the meat before making it into balls. So we ate bland meatballs smothered in ketchup. I’ve come a long way since then!
Here’s my family’s all time favorite meatball recipe!
Serves 4
Meatball Ingredients:

Egg
-
Milk
-
Shredded Cheddar Cheese
-
Oatmeal
-
Onions or Onion Powder
-
Salt
-
1 lb. Ground Beef
BBQ Sauce Ingredients:
-
Ketchup
-
Water
-
Brown Sugar
-
Prepared Mustard
Meatball Recipe:
Beat together:
1 egg
¾ cup milk
Stir in:
1 cup (4 oz) shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup oatmeal
½ cup finely chopped onions or 1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp salt
Crumble over top and combine:
1 lb. ground beef
Form into 15 - 20 golf ball size balls and place in a casserole dish or a 9 × 9 pan.
BBQ Sauce Recipe:
Whisk together:
1 cup ketchup
¼ cup water (scant)
2 TBS - ¼ cup brown sugar
1 ½ tsp prepared mustard
Spoon over meatballs until they are all covered. Bake at 375 for 45 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce is bubbling.
