Headaches, nausea, chronic fatigue? Need healthy food for growing children? That is what sped us on our journey to find healthy food and to live a healthy lifestyle.

Let’s back up a little. Heidi and I met in Virginia in 2017 when I moved there to work on a farm. I ended up taking on a farm management position with the farm and started raising cows, pigs, laying hens, and meat chickens all to be sold directly to consumers. Hey! Cutting out the middleman helps farmers actually make a living! Heidi and I got married in the fall of 2019 and we soon started dreaming about having our own place and living a slower paced life. Heidi’s health issues and food allergies really put us on the fast track to search out good food for our family. We were blessed with a baby girl in the summer of 2021 and soon decided to move to Kansas to be close to family and start our own farm.

We’ve combined our passion for health and farming to create Pokey Cow Farm, naming it after our dairy cows that are perfectly happy to walk as slow as possible! We are located in and around the little town of Gypsum KS, where we rent multiple small pastures in the area and raise hair sheep, meat chickens and of course our little herd of pokey cows.
