Our cows enjoy pasture year-round as well as high quality hay. They receive a small amount of non-GMO feed to help boost their energy levels and to keep them healthy.

Herd Share Information

  • What Is It?

    As a member at Pokey Cow Farm, you own a part of the milking herd, called a Herd Share. You get milk every week - like a milk subscription from your very own cow!

    Members pay a one-time fee to own the share and a monthly amount per share for us to care for your cow!

    But you don't have to wake up at 5:00 AM to milk the cows.

    Win-win!

  • Why A Herd Share?

    Small dairy farms require a significant up-front capital and cash flow to function and grow. Our desire is to produce quality, nutritious milk for you at an affordable price. Creating a Herd Share Program allows us to keep the prices lower for our members, while guaranteeing we have a stable cash flow to keep our dairy running to provide your family with raw milk well into the future.

  • One-Time Share Purchase

    There is a one-time fee to purchase ownership of one whole share or a half share. You can purchase as many shares as your family desires. If you end the membership, we buy back the Herd Share(s) from you.

    One whole share provides you with one gallon of milk per week. It is a one-time fee of $50.

    One half share provides you with half a gallon a week. It is a one-time fee of $25.

    Milk is picked up consistently every week, same amount as your share size, all year round.

  • Monthly Boarding Fee

    Once you own your share of the cow, you will be charged a monthly boarding fee. Pricing is as follows:

    1 gallon share: $35 per month

    1/2 gallon share: $20 per month

    We accept cash, check, and Venmo.

  • What If I'm Gone?

    You can ask a friend to pick up your milk and enjoy it, or you can send us an email at least 7 days before you plan to be gone. We’ll skip your milk for that week and you can double up your milk shares at a later time as availability permits. You won't want to miss out on any of the delicious milk in your share, and we don’t want you to either!

  • How Do I Join?

    Joining the Herd Share is simple. Give us a call, text, or email us. We will be happy to answer any questions you might have. You will need to sign a Herd Share Agreement to officially begin your milk subscription. Your Herd Share fee and the first month of board for your cow is due at the signing of the contract.

  • Weekly Pickup For Members

    Your milk will be located in our farm fridge on the front porch of Pokey Cow Farm Headquarters. The fridge is stocked Thursday evening each week with the milk for the week.

    Pick up is Friday morning through the following Thursday morning 9 AM — 7 PM.
