Together

The end of January, we decided to all go along with Tim for the morning milking. (If you are interested in learning more about our raw milk click here.) Eva goes and “helps” occasionally, but I hadn’t been since we got the cows. I am very thankful that Tim takes care of all the chores and milking, but I love when I can go along and lend a hand. Not very easy right now with the girls, but we fit it in sometimes. Sure helps (in some ways) to not be pregnant anymore!

Betsy and Ricotta were a bit leery of someone new in their barn, but they mostly behaved for Tim. They are such creatures of habit - wanting to be milked at the same time, by the same person, with everything looking the same. I have to laugh at their personalities. Betsy is fairly laid back and easy going. She just had her first calf this fall and is pretty new to the whole milking thing. Ricotta has a bigger personality. She is always in front wanting to see what’s happening, but has some (shall we call it wisdom?!?) in her seven years of life and is always on the look out for the boogie man or something that isn’t right so she can use it as an excuse to misbehave.

Hello Ricotta!

Getting ready to milk

Eva is quite the little helper

Hi Betsy!

Bekah was crying and the girls couldn’t quite figure out what was that thing?!?

I hope you enjoyed a little of our family outing. I am so blessed that we can learn and work together. It warms my heart to see Tim and Eva heading out to do chores or to be able to all bounce around in a truck hauling hay or sheep. Farm life isn’t an easy road to success, but it is so rewarding! Thanks for being along in the journey with us!
